Creating Modifiers for Products

You can create modifiers for products to let your customers customize products while ordering.

For example,

  • Ask for cooking degrees of steaks.
  • Offer extra ingredients with an additional fee, or free.
  • Let your customers choose weight of products.
  • Or any other customizations for products.

Creating a Modifier and Assigning to Products

  1. Navigate to Modifiers page under Products menu.
  2. Click on big + icon in green button, or “Create Group” button on top right.
  3. Fill in the inputs, select categories or products and click on “Save” button. You can find explanation of inputs below:

    Group Name
    Name for this modifier group for your recognition. Will not be displayed to customers.

    Group Display Name
    Name / title for this modifier group that customers will see. For example: “Cooking Degree” – or “Extra Ingredients”

    Group Description
    Short description for customers to understand what is this modifier for. Should be maximum 30 characters. For example: “Select a cooking degree.”

    Category
    If you will have too many modifiers and want to organize them under different categories, you can add a category and select that category when creating a modifier. This is used for management side, won’t make any effect on customer side.

    Online Ordering Status
    Leave this enabled if you want this modifier to bee displayed on your online ordering system.

    Point of Sale Status
    Leave this enabled if you want this modifier to bee displayed on your point of sale system (if you are using RestApp POS).

    Required on Online Ordering
    You can set this as “Required” or “Optional” for customers. If you set this modifier as Required, customers will have to pick at least one option under this modifier.

    Required on Point of Sale
    You can set this as “Required” or “Optional” for customers. If you set this modifier as Required, your staff will have to pick at least one option under this modifier when creating an order at point of sale.

    Group Type

    – Single Selection
    Let your customers pick only one option. (Example use: Cooking Degree)

    Multiple Selection
    Let your customers pick more than one options. (Example use: Extra Ingredients)

    — Max. Free Selections
    This setting defines how many free selections can a customer make if there are options that can be selected for free under that modifier group.

    For example, you created a modifier for extra ingredients, and wanted your customers to pick 2x free ingredient, and rest with additional fee. You can type 2 to this input. So customers can select 2 modifier options for free, and have to pay for 3rd and further.

    — Min. Selections
    Amount for minimum modifier option selections that your customer has to make.

    — Max. Selections
    Amount for maximum modifier option selections that your customer has to make

    Search Product Category
    You can assign whole category for a modifier group by clicking on this button. Select a category and click on “Select / Deselect All” button.

    Assign / Remove Products
    You can assign specific products for a modifier group by clicking on this button. Click on a category, then select products under that category, go back to categories list, select another category, and select products under that category.

    Click “Save” button when you are done, and move on to the next step, “Adding Options to a Modifier Group”

Adding Options to a Modifier Group

  1. When you saved the modifier group, it will be added to modifiers list as a box. You will see an (+) icon in a blue button, click on that button. (You can watch video below to see entire process.)
  2. Fill in the inputs, and click on “Save” button. You will see same popup again with empty fields after previous one is saved. This is for creating more than one options quickly. You can close that popup if you don’t want to add anymore options.

    You can find explanation of inputs below:

    Option Name
    Name of option. You can also enter in different languages by selecting the language flags above. (If you enabled other languages)

    SKU Code
    Use only if you are running your online ordering system or POS system integrated with a third party stock management or invoicing solution. Otherwise you can skip this input.

    Online Ordering Status
    Leave this “Active” if you want this option to bee displayed on your online ordering system.

    POS Status
    Leave this “Active” if you want this option to bee displayed on your point of sale system (if you are using RestApp POS).

    Group
    Select modifier group you want to add this option for. By default, its automatically selected, you don’t have to make a selection.

    Price
    Enter a price that will be added to product price if this option is selected. You can leave empy if price is not applicable.

    Can be added more than once
    Select this if you want your customers to add this option more than one.

    Free of Charge
    This option will only displayed if you entered a price and selected “Multiple Selection” and entered a value to “Max. Free Selections” input when creating the modifier group.

    Select this only if you want to make this option selectable within max. free selections.
